Planning and Project Planning
An outstanding toolset for project managers,
Vision Resource and Project Planning automates scheduling,
resource allocation, budgeting and forecasting. Its aim is
to help project mangers determine that proposed fees are accurate,
that appropriate professional staff is available and allocated
to projects effectively, and that projects come in on-time
and on-budget. Timesheet entries and expense reports feed
actuals back into the plan to provide managers with an accurate
rolling forecast.
Search for employees to use on projects based on skill sets,
experience and availability to connect the right people with
the right projects. From the development of detailed cost
proposals to the management of actual projects, managers now
have a flexible project management solution that allows them
to establish project plans, assign resources to tasks and
develop schedules and budgets.
Vision Resource and Project Planning lets your firm plan and
track opportunities so that you can analyze the opportunity
pipeline and determine which projects to pursue. You can forecast
the impact of potential opportunities on existing projects
and, if necessary, adjust project plans and resource allocation.
As you plan project tasks, Vision Resource and Project Planning
allows you to establish a work breakdown structure specific
to your project. By analyzing similar, completed projects,
you can make accurate estimates of the duration of tasks and
use these to create a baseline project schedule. You can also
establish dependencies between tasks and identify those that
can be accomplished concurrently.
Develop project plans to manage all
of the details of a project, including tasks, resources, budgets
and forecasts.
Looking to staff a project? Turn to Vision's
resource management feature, which maintains profiles of your
employees' project and general schedules, education, skills,
preferences and availability. By using Vision's highly customizable
search algorithm, you can seek out the staff you need, based
on qualifications and availability.
You supply a set of skill and availability
requirements and Vision Planning tells you which employees
meet your needs.
Search for resources based on skill
and availability and manage resource utilization levels.
Once tasks and resources
are identified, Vision Planning helps you develop direct labor
and expense budgets. It automatically computes labor costs
based on the number of labor hours required, multiplied by
the assigned employees' labor cost rates. Then Vision Planning
uses specified, organization-specific, or global overhead
allocation percentages to forecast the indirect costs associated
with the plan. Finally, Vision Planning uses project-specific
revenue recognition to calculate projected revenue, and in
turn, the project's profitability. All labor costs, overhead
costs and expenses from any level of the work breakdown structure
can be rolled up automatically to make it easy to see the
overall effect of a change in resources or costs.
Once the project begins, Vision Planning reads actual expenditures
and compares them to a baseline budget. Project managers can
enter their own comparison data -- percentage of completion,
estimate to complete or estimate at completion -- to determine
if a project is on track. Vision Planning keeps your baseline
schedule intact,
but allows you to track these changes in a revised plan.
